How Many Senior Citizens Are There Worldwide?
As of 2015, there are more than 900 million older people worldwide, according to WHO. These are people aged 60 years and older. Around 141 million, ie 1 in 6, older people experience some form of abuse: psychological, financial, neglect, physical, and sexual.
Elder abuse is defined as actions or lack of appropriate action which can cause harm or distress to an older person.
By 2050, the number of elderly worldwide will reach 2 billion.
